This is probably one of the most amazing lenses ever designed for any camera. Not only does it cover an stunning 180 degree angle, but it does cover the whole full frame at 6x6cm, and it's sharpness is surprisingly high, better than any other fisheye lens on the market.

The lens was designed to have a minimum of distortion; it differs from the usual fisheye lenses in that it has virtually no distortion at the picture's center, and then gradually increases distortion towards the corners.

When used in landscape photography, very often dramatic pictures are possible without the viewer ever noticing that a fisheye lens was used! Up to the far corner of the image, even at full aperture, amazing details are recorded.

The 30mm F-Distagon consists of two parts: The lens back with bayonet, and the huge front lens set which is detachable. Pressing the silver button on the black ring underneath the diaphragm ring, a 30 degree turn of the ring will release the front lens part to access the inner compartment where the filters are to be inserted.

Lens comes with a set of four filters sizes M25x0,5. The clear UV filter is standard inserted into the lens and is part of the lens design, hence must not be removed. When removed, a bright red warning sign is visible on the lens element set.

All filters are engraved "Carl Zeiss West Germany" and the filters carry the inscription:
